WholeEat Partners with Sterling Bank to Launch Anti-Malnutrition project in
Lagos

Whole Eats Africa, a fitness and wellness initiative, and Sterling Bank Plc, Nigeria’s
leading commercial bank, have launched the Community Pot project, a social impact project in Lagos to feed 500 malnourished children.

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund, Nigeria has the second highest
burden of stunted children in the world, with a national prevalence rate of 32 percent
of children under five. An estimated 2 million children in Nigeria suffer from severe
acute malnutrition (SAM), but only two out of every 10 children affected is currently
reached with treatment. This condition not only disrupts a child’s physical and mental state, but also deprives the child of achieving and maximizing his/her full potential in life, thus the urgent need to end malnutrition globally.

Our goal is to identify, feed, train and transition 500 malnourished children from being underweight to become healthy babies. Community Pot, through nutritious
supplementary food will advance the cognitive and physical development of every
child to enable them fully maximize their abilities.

We have specially chosen the Organic Protein Meal formulated by Whole eats as this project’s arrow head. The Founder, Whole Eats/Community Pot, Oluwakemi Jeje said.
This meal, which is a carefully formulated nutrient-dense food, contains an optimal
balance of protein and carbohydrates, infused with micronutrients obtained from
fruits. This has been tested with over 95% success rate in treating underweight
children in Nigeria.’ Oluwakemi Jeje added In accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2.2 goal to eliminate malnutrition, Community Pot, through nutritious supplementary food will advance the cognitive and physical development of every child to enable them fully maximize their abilities.

Sterling Bank is excited to be a part of the project and would support the Community
Pot project to feed 200 children for about three months. This would be achieved by
providing them with a baby feed known as Toddler Protein. The feed is manufactured by Whole Eats Foundation for feeding kids’. CEO, Sterling One Foundation, Mrs. Olapeju Ibekwe, said The targeted beneficiary of the project are children between the ages of 6 months to 5 years old.

At Community Pot, we believe the first 3 years of a child’s life is crucial to their growth and development, thus, our goal is to identify, feed, train and transition 500 malnourished children from being underweight to become healthy babies.
